Obama’s bow

I was going to let last week’s brouhaha on the right side of the blogosphere slide. For those of you who don’t get out much, at last week’s meeting of the G-20, President Barack Obama bowed to the Saudi kinglet. He shouldn’t have done it. It was a meaningless gesture. It was a minor diplomatic faux pas.

Plus, I remember how much I cringed when the cable news networks broadcast over and over the video of President George W. Bush holding hands with the same guy.

But instead of just admitting to the minor screw-up (remember how the left used to complain that Bush would admit no mistake, no matter how minor), an unnamed White House source has said: “Bow? What bow? I don’t know what you are talking about. There was no bow. He had a twinge in his back, yeah, that’s it! A twinge in his back because he’s carrying the weight of the world, the hopes, the dreams, of everyone on planet Earth.”

The White House source wants to remain anonymous, because anonymous is better than point-and-laugh-at-this-guy stupid.

Who are you going to believe, the video, or your lying eyes?

For the enhanced video which shows that Obama wasn’t picking up a penny off the floor, check out Hot Air.

Obama, the President of the United States and leader of the free world, bows to a Saudi King who represents a despotic regime noted for its’ human rights violations, a birthplace of terrorists, a symbol of everything that is an antithesis to our system of government, and it’s no big deal?

I consider myself fortunate to have been born in a republic. I appreciate that as a citizen of a republic, I need not bow to any man or woman. We are all created equal, and blood lines do not make one person superior. This gesture by Obama should rankle every citizen for when Obama bowed as President of the United States, we all bowed.

He did bow, see the video from the latest angle:
