This is a much deeper theological question than the New York Times appears capable of handling:

A headline last Sunday about a Muslim man and an Orthodox Jewish woman who are partners in two Dunkin’ Donuts stores described their religions incorrectly. The two faiths worship the same God — not different ones.

I think if you handed a space alien, the Jewish Torah, the Christian Bible and the Koran, that the alien would very likely conclude that the Jewish and Christian God is not the same as the Muslim one.
